What is the role of a netball umpire?

Umpiring is an exciting and challenging role.  An umpire helps the players enjoy the game and develop the full potential of their skills.

There are three aims for an umpire – to control the game, to keep the game safe, to ensure the players follow the rules.  There are different ways we achieve this and we can help you to learn how to do that.

It takes time and practice to learn and apply the rules of Netball.  Umpires are constantly learning and upskilling.  There are many pathways for umpiring, and we congratulate you for taking the first step.
If you would like to Umpire for the club or are interested in finding out further information as to how to become an Umpire, please complete and return the form below with your 2016 Registration forms, at the moment there is a waiting list for 2016 positions. We will offer support, mentoring and continuing opportunities to participate in additional training where available.  All our umpires are must complete their umpiring exam and can progress their skills via the National High Performance Umpire Pathway.

As an umpire it is expected that you will commit to all rostered games which will be as convenient to your playing time as we can make them. If you are only available fortnightly, or for part of the season, please still complete the form and the Umpiring Coordinator will contact you to discuss your options.
